MORRIS MARINA TC JUBILEE - 1973 The Morris Marina TC Jubilee was produced in 1973 by Morris to celebrate their 60th Diamond Jubilee. There were 2000 cars made, one for each BL dealership. They were kept under wraps and not viewed by the general public until the launch. All were TC four door saloon models Citron in colour on an M year registration which was from August 1973 to August 1974. First time British Leyland used this colour, later used on many other Leyland cars of that time. Navy trimmed cloth seats, Sundym windows, Polka dot roof lining, opening front quarter lights, black vinyl roof and black sun visors with passenger mirror are some of the extras and differences. Outside it was equipped with front Wipac fog lamps (This meant front bumper under riders were unable to be fitted) and Hazard warning flashers with Lucas wing repeaters as standard. The TC grill was finished with a Citron painted trim instead of the normal TC red. The door mirrors were a crackle black finish instead of the polished stainless. They also had the extra Jubilee badge below the standard TC wing badge. They came out of the factory on 155 wide Dunlop white stripe tyres on a standard steel rim with a Triumph spitfire wheel centre with the Leyland logo replacing the spitfire badge. The Jubilee had some of the export market features which were standard for hotter countries like the U.S., Australia and Africa. Hence the opening quarter lights. Also US models had the same wheel centre caps. The twin black pin stripe was also on all Jubilee models and followed the line of the car above the door Handles on the sides and even round the boot lid at the rear. Even though the Jubilee was a short run of cars made, they were built during a time where changes were being made to the base model so early Jubilees will have under bumper reversing lamps and later cars will be fitted to the rear applique above the bumper. There are only 16 known cars left with only 6 on the road. So now a very rare car to see on the road. The TC models produced after the Jubilee started to have similar specifications. For example Sundym windows, cloth seats, Hazard warning flashing lamps and vinyl roofs.
