    The Jaguar XK8(X100) was a successor to the XJS, and on sale from October 1996. The convertible option had a claimed top speed limited to 154mph and 0-60 acceleration of 7 seconds. (Hmm...)     A Longbridge built Japanese export Mini Cooper. One of only 150 Mini Cooper 35th Anniversary's made in Flame Red with Black Leather interior combination. It stayed in Japan until 2008 when it came back to the UK. Owned by myself since 2015 but was fully restored and back on the road in 2019. Being a Japanese export specification it has factory fitted air conditioning but is still a fully fledged Mini Cooper. It has a few careful modifications such as 4-pot caliper disc brakes and some small engine modifications.

    The 205 XS is a lesser-known, mildly sporting, example of the 3 door range that was always dominated by the more popular 1.6 & 1.9 GTi models. However, the torquey 1360cc engine and close ratio gearbox gives it a good turn of speed until it reaches the national speed limit, at which point the engine does start to sound a bit “busy”. The same spec 85 BHP, TU3S alloy engine was also fitted to other variants, such as the Roland Garros and four door SR & GT; as well as the Citroën AX GT. Despite being over 30 years old, this example was purchased by the current owners in 2019 to use on runs as a “modern classic”, having previously owned one back in the 1980’s when the model was current. It is still pretty much in original condition and to standard specification.
