211 SMYC-569-26MGMagnette1958In the 1950s, the BMC Competition Manager, Marcus Chambers, wanted an MG Magnette 'GT' for rallies and racing with an MGA twin cam engine (108 bhp), a 5-speed gearbox, disc brakes and a large 300 mile range tank. A dream that never happened. This Magnette has alterations based on the original 'GT' wishes of Marcus Chambers to suit today's fast traffic and motorway use, but still preserving Gerald Palmer's original designs. The car has an MGB 1950cc Oselli Fast Road Stage 2 engine, a 5 Speed Ford gearbox, front disc brakes and free flow exhaust system.

251UYEC-140-26ChevroletCorvette C11956Born on 18th June 1956 in St Louis, Missouri, this Corvette started life with an owner in Utah and saw American life for what would be 57 years on the North American continent. It saw the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Suez Crisis, the assassination of JFK and Apollo 11 landing on the moon. This all took its toll on the car and we believe that in approximately 1998 it started what was to be a full restoration and modernisation process - a Restomod - to bring it up to the condition and spec it is in today. This lost momentum by the then owner and it was sold as a ‘part started’ project in 2013 and imported into the UK by its previous owner to continue with the project. After another 10 years the car was completed. Today it presents as a car that still looks 100% 1956, but running a much enhanced specification, including an SRIII chassis, C4 Corvette suspension and disc brakes, a period 5-speed replacement Richmond gearbox and an engine of epic proportions. It is a fully forged and balanced 383-stroked (383 cu.in), running AFR heads, roller cam, dual quad Edelbrock carburettors and produces close to 500bhp and similar torque. It weighs 1200kg…. It is utterly fabulous 🙂

The car then made her home in Sheffield before being taken to Northern Ireland in 2020. Brakes are now power assisted hydraulic disc/drum set up with a front anti-roll bar and telescopic shock absorbers. I do 5k to 6k miles a year taking it to shows, hillclimbs and sprint events.

401 DOBC-268-26Austin HealeyMk1 sprite 1330cc1961My passion is for driving my frogeye, so I have increased engine size, fitted electronic ignition. Disc brakes on the front, electric fan and fuel pump. Which means I know I can get from A to B and back, wonderful feeling. From the outside it looks a standard Frogeye.
-
4169PZ81C-588-26Citroen2cv AZL PO1957This is a rare PO version of the 2cv - visibly immediately, it has a tub ular front bumper and sump guard. Not so visible is a stronger chassis and oil bath air filter. The PO model was made for areas and countries where a more rugged vehicle was called for and where some off road use anticipated. This car also had fitted from new, a bulbous boot conversion which turns the car into a hatchback, and it also had a useful accessory - a fuel gauge! Amazingly the car has never been welded - all the bodywork and chassis is original as is the interior trim.

512 UXMC-552-26Austin Healey3000 Mk11 BJ71963This car owes its survival to being part of the Arthur Carter collection of over 50 British cars from 1971 to 2005, when it passed to its current owners. The previous owner changed the colour from its original Colorado Red to a 1972 MG Morris colour, Teal Blue. Asked why, he said "he liked the colour". We thoroughly agree with him, as it does suit the car. We have fitted electronic ignition, a Motolita steering wheel, seat belts, and radials. We removed the bumpers (kept safely) to save weight. The car answers to the name of "Scooby".

Nicknamed "The Turd" due to it's ability to make me want to burn it on a regular basis. That said, I do love the thing, it's been around through many important events in my life and intend I to keep it for as long as I can.

Imported back to UK in about 1984 in “distressed” condition with most timber framing, trim and upholstery eaten by termites, although rust-free. Restored over a period of about 12 years with new timber framing, upholstery and hood. In my custodianship since 2015. I have rebuilt the engine, gearbox, steering box, shock absorbers, dynamo, starter, water pump and Autovac. In regular use on the road.

C70 FHCC-247-26VolvoC70 Coupe2002Made in Sweden originally for the American market as they love 2 door automatic cars. They were also sold in England as well as some european countries. They also sold for the european market a convertible (rag top) and a few did find their way in to England. These coupe and convertibles were only in production for 3 years finishing in 2002. Volvo followered other car makers in 2003 and produced these with a metal sliding and folding roof sections which stowed in the boot. These were affectionately known as "Tin Tops". The only drawback with this type of roof storage was that when in use they took up virtually half of the boot space as the roof sections were very large. Simon Templar "The Saint" was originally going to use the coupe as his screen car ST 1 but Volvo offered the ES1800 and Simon liked the idea of the full size opening rear glass door.

It still retained the painted wave style dashboard which was replaced with black plastic the following year. The Confort model wasn’t as luxurious as the Pallas but did include all the hydraulic features synonymous with the DS. In addition to hydraulic suspension and power steering, it has the semi-automatic BVH gearbox with the fingertip control wand, inboard disc brakes and mushroom button instead of a traditional brake pedal. I bought the car in 2017 and have only needed to smarten it up a bit and replace the suspension spheres. It has been very reliable and is a delight to drive

EAR 235C-293-26AustinOpal 2 Seat Tourer1938AUSTIN SEVEN OPAL 2 SEAT TOURER Body Type: A.P.E. Date of Manufacture: June 1938 Fuel Tank: 5-Gals Engine Size: 747 c.c. Miles per Gal: 35 mpg + Price New: £112.00 In 1937 this model sold at £102.10s and towards the end of the year the price was increased to £112.00. On July 27th, 1938, it was REDUCED to £108.00 I paid £30 for it in 1960. Production Nos: At least 700 from APE 80 (early 1936) through to February 1939. There are only 63 recorded survivors. This model was classified as one of Herbert Austin’s Jewels and known as the OPAL. Herbert Austin’s 3 Jewels were: THE OPAL, THE RUBY and THE PEARL. This car has won the National Austin Seven Rally in its class at Beaulieu in1990/91/92/94/97/98, 2000/01/02/04/10/11/13/14/15/16/18/23, indicating that it is judged to be the best of the surviving Opals. This car has been in my possession since 1960. Originally restored between 1960 and 1963 at a cost of £70, (£35 of this was for the hood) it was again overhauled between 1974 and 1989 (a long job). During the 60’s and 70’s it was my daily form of transport, now in my retirement it is once again. Normal touring speed is 45 – 50 mph, but could achieve 75 mph. This engine, with some modifications, could reach speeds of over 100 mph. Many cars have been developed from these early Austin 7’s. The first Jaguar S.S. was developed from a swallow. (S.S. = Swallow Sidecar Company) Colin Chapman’s Lotus was originally an Austin 7 and can still be seen at some of our rallies. The Broadley Austin was the fore-runner of the Lola Marque. John Cooper of Mini Cooper fame was given an Austin 7 Cooper Special by his father in 1936 when John was 12 years old. The first Datsuns were copies of the early Austin 7. The first early BMW was an Austin 7 with a DIXI engine and the now familiar grill. France: Various models made by Rosengart. USA: The Jeep, Bantham and Roadstar. Alec Issigonis started to design and build a special in 1933 using Austin bits. This special was very “special” in that it had Independent Suspension. It was completed a few months before the war when it won on its first outing. This special is still raced today, powered by the 750 cc engine and beating 1100 cc and 2 litre cars. This special is called “Lightweight” and is a tribute to the engineering skills of Alec Issigonis. This Opal is used for enjoyment. It is shown at rallies in concours condition, but is also used for hill climbs (which it wins). Last year it went to the Black Forest in Germany and to the Cotswolds, just a few little runs out. I enjoy it, I hope you have too, but Please Treat it With Care and help me keep it like this.

F265 UPAC-413-26LotusEsprit turbo1988Lotus Esprit Turbo ( Stevens ) Owner Matt Cook ( Presenter of YouTube channel CookOnCars ) In 1987, the Esprit was restyled by British designer Peter Stevens. Stevens, who would later go on to design the McLaren F1, produced a less angular, more rounded Esprit. Giugiaro is said to have liked the new shape, claiming it was perhaps too close to his original design. The exterior changes were accompanied by a redesign of the interior that gave more space to the occupants. The revised Esprit was not given a new "Series" number but is often called by its project code of X180. Panels for the body were produced using a new process called VARI (Vacuum Assisted Resin Injection). This method, which was patented by Lotus, offered advantages over the previous hand lay-up process. Kevlar reinforcement was added to the roof and sides for roll- over protection. This contributed to a 22% increase in the Esprit's torsional rigidity The X180 cars inherited most of their mechanical components from the earlier HC Esprit and Turbo Esprit, although the name for the forced induction model was now Esprit Turbo. Other X180 models received a new Renault UN-1 transaxle, which necessitated a move to outboard rear brakes. Power output of the Type 910 turbocharged engine was unchanged, but 0–97 km/h (60 mph) acceleration times decreased from 5.6 seconds to between 5.4 and 5.1 seconds ● Top speed was over 150 mph (240 km/h). (The first Esprit to crack over 150mph)

G733 UNCC-161-26Peugeot205 XS1989The 205 XS is a lesser-known, mildly sporting, example of the 3 door range that was always dominated by the more popular 1.6 & 1.9 GTi models. However, the torquey 1360cc engine and close ratio gearbox gives it a good turn of speed until it reaches the national speed limit, at which point the engine does start to sound a bit “busy”. The same spec 84 BHP, TU3S alloy engine was also fitted to other variants, such as the Roland Garros and four door SR & GT; as well as the Citroën AX GT. Despite being over 30 years old, this example was purchased by the current owners in 2019 to use on runs as a “modern classic”, having previously owned one back in the 1980’s when the model was current. It is still pretty much in original condition and to standard specification.

GCE 257NC-302-26Fiat128 Coupe1974This is a rare survivor of a 1974 Fiat 128 Coupe. This was a coupe version of the popular 128 saloon and was built for about 3-4 years before being replace by the hatchback 3p version. I owned one of these as a teenager and always promised myself another but did not realise that it would take nearly 15 years to find one. This one came up for sale so I had to have it and was located only 10 miles from my home. With a little bit of investigation work on the internet it appears that there are only singles figures of these left in the UK. Maybe that was why it took me so long to find one!

GCL964YC-430-26TrikingTriking 1000 Mk11983Inspired by prewar Morgan Supersport 3 wheelers, with its exposed V twin engine, this was the first modern interpretation (but still over 40 years ago) and considered by many to set the benchmark for such cars until Morgan themselves re-introduced their 3 wheeler. The Triking is based on a Moto Guzzi 1000 cc motorcycle drive with modern brakes, electrical system, steering and a steel chassis/body tub. Later models obtained EU type approval so did not require to be built as a kit.

H721 KPDC-345-26LotusElan SE1991I have owned this car from new. Dare I say it, it has never let me down, so much for "Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious". I have used the car on track but it's more of a road car, once being hailed as the fastest A to B car of the time. Sadly the car was not as successful as was hoped, mainly due to the recession and the introduction of the MX5. Also it was the first front wheel drive Lotus 2 seater sports car, which went against the grain for many of the purists. Still a very contempory looking car despite the pop-up headlights giving it's age away.

KAS147C-363-26JowettJupiter1951Jupiter sports cars were built from 1950 to 1954 all of which were powered by a Jowett-designed 1486cc flat four pushrod engine of 60-62BHP in standard form. Most Jupiters constructed were the aluminium-bodied Mk1 (731) and the Mk1a (94). A further 75 fully equipped Jupiter rolling chassis were sold to specialist coachbuilders like Farina, Gebruder Beutler, Ghia Suisse, Richard Mead, Abbott of Farnham, to name but five. The Factory built three sports-racing R1-type Jupiters for the Le Mans 24-hour races of 1951 and 1952 to capitalise on the standard Jupiter's class win at that race in 1950. The model displayed was finished for a client in Eastbourne and built in Crawley on a rolling chassis and is one of two built to factory specification but lighter weight. It is one of very few with an overdrive. It is know as The Watling Greenwood special after the builder.

SEL 330NC-447-26HillmanImp1974This Imp was originally built by Team Hartwell of Bournemouth using a standard Imp shell and fitting a 998cc engine with gas-flowed head, twin carbs and large-bore exhaust. The suspension was lowered. It was originally registered as a Hartwell Imp. It was road-tested by Motoring News and other publications. I bought it from its first owner in 1977 and gradually modified it for road rallies, adding a roll cage, auxiliary lights, uprated suspension, and a high-lift cam. It was used until 1985 when it was suffering from the rigours of rallies and 'tin-worm'. It was garaged 'pending restoration' - until 2010! The need to demolish the garage required action and fortunately contact with Imp Club member and restorer Colin Rooney resulted in restoration to its current condition. It had a recent engine rebuild with rebore, increasing its capacity to the current 1020cc. It is now used for classic car runs and shows, and the Shere Hill Climb when accepted.

Model year 1989 - From model year 1989 the Silver Spirit got a new front airdam again. - New in-car entertainment system. - Restyled cantrail finishers. Production and chassis numbers The Silver Spirit between the other models In 1980 at the launch of the Silver Spirit the factory sold 5 separate model series: (1) the 4-door saloon (Silver Spirit, Bentley Mulsanne) (2) the long wheelbase (Silver Spur, Mulsanne LWB) (3) the Phantom VI (4) the Corniche 2-door saloon and convertible (5) the Camargue. Identification of the model in the chassis number The chassis number of a Silver Spirit has: - the letter A on the third position - the letter S on the fifth position - a number between 01001 and 27798. Further details about the production and the chassis numbers - The chassis numbers in the years 1980 up to and including 1989 are assigned in batches. Batches exist for the standard saloon models (Silver Spirit, Mulsanne), the long wheelbase models (Silver Spur, Bentley LWB), the turbo models (Mulsanne Turbo, Turbo R), the Bentley Eight, the convertibles (Corniche, Continental), the Camargues and the Phantoms VI. - The Silver Spirit and the Bentley Mulsanne (Mulsanne S from 1988) without turbo have got mixed numbers within the same batches. - In model year 1980 every Silver Spirit had four noughts on the sixth up to and including the ninth position of the chassis number. This part of the number didn't get a correct value until model year 1981. That means also that the control digit (ninth position) in model year 1980 is not correct for sure. - In model year 1980 no Silver Spirit was built for the American, Canadian and Japanese markets. The production for these marketss started with model year 1981. - The first cars of model year 1980 were destined for promotional purposes. Series of numbers and unused numbers - No number was assigned to a Silver Spirit between 10111 and 12000, and between 16971 and 20000. Between 10111 and 10427 there are series of numbers that are assigned to other models (Corniche, Continental, Camargue, Phantom VI).

VGO417WB-012-26YamahaRd 125dx1980I purchased the bike in 1989 and shared it with my wife , using it for several years until a lorry reversed over it and wrote it off. I stored it in my shed until a few years ago, when I decided to restore it. It is all original apart from the paint work, indicators and seat cover. I've always loved Japanese 2 strokes and it's a joy to ride.

VGY4G and RX05VEOC-538-26LotusElan/Exige1969VGY4G was bought by us in 1976. we bought it to drive to the South of France. on the road to Dover the bonnet flew open, in Calais the stater motor broke off but we loved it then and still love it now - its almost our first baby! Since then its been thoroughly rebuilt (in particular after enjoying a far too close relationship with the Mallory Park barriers in 1998) and has been a regular at Club Lotus' Goodwood track day for many years. RX05VEO was bought (new!) in 2005 and is one of the very first supercharged Exiges; it too has been on the track regularly - in particular at Spa where it survived a 360 spin down the tarmac at the infamous Eau Rouge. Both cars are in regular road use.

WIA593C-499-26Porsche928S41992I bought her at the beginning of 2015, in a state of neglect languishing on a garage forecourt in Shenfield, Essex. The desire to own a Porsche at some point in my life was too strong to resist, and so when I should have walked away after the inspection and a worried test drive with an unknown cambelt issue, I decide to commit to a Pandoras box on wheels. I've now owned her for the last 11 years, restoring her to her former glory as a 90s supercar with all that entails. The list of things done would fill a library but suffice to say she now looks and sounds like a GT car should. Still a few outstanding jobs to tackle, they will be done sooner rather than later. Its one of those cars that when you leave in a car park you're going to look round at just to admire.

WX53GYRC-233-26MitsubishiMitsubishi2003Great example of an evo 8 bought as a fun weekend car which is a project I have taken on over the last three years. There are some rough spots to the paint but it’s a shame the paint work will be down after the show due to time it has taken to get the engine sorted and to a good standard. Had a full engine rebuild but never the less it been a blast of fun to drive and is a great looking car running a great deal more power then it’s factory spec but still keep it looking original.

Returned in 1967 and went through several owners, including a provider of cars for filming - appeared in the show "Heartbeat". Acquired by Chris Cowell in Whitby, Yorkshire in 1993 who carried out a 12-month restoration and gave it the current age-related registration. Sold next to Mike Bourne in 2004. I knew him and his wife Sue from the show circuit and when he died in 2023 there was no way anyone else was going to have it. I needed an auto box for my arthritis and sold my existing Rover 100.

WYT88NC-519-26TriumphStag1974Purchased by us in 1988, the car is in very original specification. The engine was rebuilt in 1990 by Howard Vesey in Faversham, and in the mid 1990's some of the paintwork was refreshed. As would be expected for a 52 year old vehicle brake, suspension, and steering parts have been replaced over the years, but the car has never been completely stripped and restored and still sports the original dealers number plates.

When I brought it it was still in pieces although some work had been done to the parts. I set about completing the restoration in the following years as a pleasant diversion from the several COVID lock downs. It was returned to the road in Sep 2022.
